The beauty around us is a mere reflection – reflection of light and our perception. For the universe, neither beauty exists nor its existence matters. Nevertheless, our obsession with beauty extends in all directions, from beneath our feet to things over our head.
An artist may spend a lifetime perfecting a masterpiece, we may call him crazy – we may call him dreamer, but his relentless pursuit does not evanesce in the expansive universe. For him, as long as his people find beauty in his work, his pursuit draws to an end.
Our pursuit of beauty may be limited to who our audiences are. We seek acceptance and avoid rejection – not from the universe, but from beings of the same kind. No wonder someone said rightly, “Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder”, and not something the universe has given us – a truth.
